The hard middle contains credible witnesses, imperfect sensors, secrecy, ordinary objects that look extraordinary, and the residue that cannot yet be resolved from the available data.
“Unresolved” means the available evidence did not support a confident identification. It does not, by itself, establish a visitor, vehicle, intelligence, or origin—or include a complimentary upgrade to “extraterrestrial.”

Plasmoids and

Plasma is real. Plasmoids are real. Conscious plasma is still waiting outside with identification; living or conscious “plasmoid entities” are not an established scientific finding.
A structure, not automatically a creature
A plasmoid is a coherent structure of ionized matter and electromagnetic fields. In physics writing, “entity” may simply mean a bounded structure; it does not imply awareness. Sprites, gigantic jets, magnetotail plasmoids, and other plasma phenomena are real.

Papers published in 2024 and 2025 interpret processed Space Shuttle footage as huge thermospheric plasmas and then propose pre-life or consciousness. Those publications exist, but the interpretation is not a NASA or AARO finding.

Monocular imagery with uncertain distance cannot securely establish physical size or speed. Processed frames do not demonstrate composition, metabolism, reproduction, awareness, or consciousness. There are no recovered samples, decisive spectra, controlled observations, or independent replications.
Measurements that discriminate
Simultaneous multi-angle calibrated video; known range and sensor geometry; spectroscopy; synchronized radar and electromagnetic readings; raw data; a reconstructed trajectory; predictions that separate an organism from debris, optics, ice, satellite flares, and known plasma behavior; independent replication.
“Looks alive” is the beginning of the question, not the end of the paper. The useful test is what measurement would force us to choose life over every simpler physical explanation.
